Did we miss one of the films in the blog?, because I thought that the only movies I hadn't seen in class were Paprika and Sita sings the blues.

Maya Tutorials

This is actually my weak spot. I'm ashamed and frustraded with that. I had to remake the pipeline three times cause of troubles and my retarded laptop. Even though i have to say i've learned a lot about the program and I started to take interest about it to make future personal projects.

I would like to add more stuff if it's still worth to post it.

Maya tutorials: Pipeline 2

The maya tutorial of the bridge. I created all the model in the university but for some reason the project rejected to open in my laptop. So I had to repeat it for 3rd time. The second was when I had lost my pen drive.

This is the spot with the last remaining image I have from my folders. I have all the model done in high resolution but I couln't make the textures and UV. In both my laptop or the university pc wasn't able to do the this the video said.

Review animation film: Sita Sings the Blues

Sita Sings the Blues

Curious film with simplist animation and indian-arabic topic. Big part of the reproduction is hold by singing of the main character. I would say that with an american style, that crashes to the oriental style.

The plot and the meaning of the things are hard to me tell cause of the accent. All I catch was, that some god tries to steal the woman of other man. And still have troubles with the real time images, where the style changes completely.

As I said the animation and the cuality its simplist with few movements even the secondary characters looks the same, but there is a good contrast of colors. The fire takes a special meaning for the movie, it appears in a lot of scenes.

As my personal opinion y quite dislike the film, maybe because my personal preferences takes me away from musicals, but in the end I didn't enjoy the film as I did with other animations.

Review animation film: When the Wind Blows

When the Wind Blows

Takes place in a situation where everybody is worried with the confrontation between USA and the URSS. The characters are two elders living in the contryside with few people nearby.

The husband sees one day one goverment advice of what to do in an atomic catastrophe and how to react agains the fallout. Since then he decides to make a vault using some parts of the house anoyng his wife in the process. Unfortunately, the nuclear bombs fell down and in that situation they try to survive with the indications they had in a vage attempt understand the situation and the final problems that they will have to encounter.

The animation its quite curious, it's like childish, but the topic it's so serious, that you don't have how to feel or react. Then you feel that they are ignorants, but then you may think they look like childs and start to embrace them. Usually it's said, at elderly two times childly. 

To finish I would say the film it was enjoyable but for me I wouldn't watch it again. The feels and the suffer are not in my list of characteristics of a movie, even more if the characters are that adorable and innocent.

Review animation film: Belleville Rendezvous

Belleville Rendezvous

The film goes around a child that lacks in motivation. His grandmother tries to catch his interest with different options until finds out that the bike is his one true desire. After that, the boy grows up and becomes a professional cyclist and manages to go to the "Tour de France". There is kidnapped and since then his grandmother search from him, arriving to the city of Belleville. The site where takes place the rescue.

The most amaizing characteristic of this film is the type of animation. Tis isn't only a cartoon, its a animated caricature. The extreme movement of tthe characters, the extreme faces and bodies, all to feel a satiric and extreme vision of the world.

It's great, I had a good time enjoying it. Besides in some moments starts to be monotonous it's inmediatelly fixed with history loop or action situation. I believe this is one of the examples that shows how cartoons are not only for kids.

Review animation film: Persepolis

Persepolis

Persepolis, a film very simlar to Waltz with Bashir in terms of origin, topic and controverse. The history goes around a girl from Iran since his early age to adult. Part of the history surrounds a travel of some years to Europe.

The plot shows how the girl has to deal with the struggles of the war and revolution, And in the other side with the eccentric and critic point of view of the Europeans.

On one side I fell like this film is a critic to the woman situation in the islamic countries and in the other makes you learn about the history of these zones that for a lot of people is absolutely unknown.

Even though the animation it's quite similar to Waltz with Bashir, Persepolis has more emphasis to a childish and comic perseption of the content what makes it more fun to watch for the dialogues but less atractive in the animation.

Review animation film: Waltz with Bashir

Waltz with Bashir

Animation film that shows the Lebanon attack and the massacre in the eyes of witnesses of these days. The main characters tries to clarify is memories thaat persue him. This makes him travel around the glove to find his friends and find the meaning to his dream.

The structure of the film and the succession of events make me think like is telling a history. It's more like a video archive a documentary with his characters commentary about the situation and the feelings.

The animation and the scenarios were amazing, since the first moment with the dogs run, the film took all my atention. Once one dream was shown, I was already waiting to see the nextone. 

Besides the film may be looking to shown a side of the conflict, I'm not symphatized with the war and historical period. Even one of the sides is tring to redeem themselves there is no excuse for the murdering of people. We are able to see the struggles of the war, changing the mind and the humanity of the ones affected by it. War, war never changes.

Review animation film: Paprika

Paprika

The first time I heard of this film was before his release in the Sitges festival in Spain. For what I heard from there the film was masterpiece.

At the moment I saw the movie for the first time I had the feeling I wasn't hable to understand the plot of the film, I was simply enjoying the animation. But it was only until I started to be interested with the japanese animations and the language that instandly almost everything in the film started to make sense.

From a basic perception of the topic, looks like some characters develop a method to go insidde the dreams of the people for therapy methods, but that turns out when someone steals one of the devices, and precedes to an investigation.

The interesting fact about that is how the dreams and reality are mixed together and we are able to see a lot of different alternative realities of different characters.

Through a lot of scenes i manage to get some ironies like when the polititians suddenly transforms to a decorative objects with the words gold. Or when the bussinesman (shain) jumps over the edge of the skycrapers a clear critic to sort of japanese procedure in cases of depression for jobb issues. There are more criticism to the woman stereotype and a lot of analogies with the cuture.

Besides all that the movie it's still a movie trying to reach alll the content of and entire serie and ends up being confusing with the ammount of information.

I have seen the movie in english and japanese. Have to say that the original version it's always better. In the case of the voices, a lot of them are clearly inverosymil in japenese making a almost impossible character with different precence, as it's different in english.

Hard to see and understand for viewers with no experience in anime.

Review animation film: Mary & Max

Mary and Max

Animation film that narrates the history and thoughts of two main characters. Both of them with his own problems and erronean concepts of the world.

Mary is a girl of and Australian city that has no friends, a family that does not care about her and feels bad about her fisic.

Max is a similar person, Lives in New York. Has no friends (has one imaginary frriend though), he is completelly adicted to chocolate and remains with him some sort of mental inestability.

Mary decides some day to mail a random person as an expermiment, and that way meets Max. The continious letter sending goes increasing and stopping depending on the mood of the characters at some points of the movie. Personal thougts that make the characters sometimes feel unconfortable and other symptomas.

The plot is sad, the dialoges for me wasn't entertaining but catched my interest. The animation and the scenarios were really good. The ending is leaves you with a fair good sensation over all the sadness.

I have the feeling this animation is not for all audiences. I mean if you are not used to this specific plot you won't like it at all. But overall I find it interesting and worth the time, but i won't  see it again.
